Gaffer wanted — DFFB student film (Medienboard DIGI.Tale), Berlin

A boy terrified of the dark discovers it's the only place safe from the
smiling copies of his family, who wait in the bright kitchen, sweetly
calling him to dinner.

LYING LIGHT is looking for a gaffer. Realised through the DFFB Berlin,
supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg within the DIGI.Tale program.

On this film light is the antagonist. The rule is binary and the audience
has to be able to read it at every moment: lit means the creatures can move,
dark means they freeze. So the light does the storytelling — a kitchen lit
lamp by lamp until the chandelier, the same room taken apart bulb by bulb by
a boy, a single hard beam sweeping a black room that the actors can only
move inside, and one plug pull that ends everything. Every cue is repeatable
and mapped, because the same cue list drives the second half of the project:
while you watch, your own smart lights sync to the light in the film.

It's an installation and a film at the same time. The gaffer is not lighting
scenes here — they're building the rule the whole film runs on.

One location, seven shooting days from 26 untill 31 October in Berlin.
